W+A wins four Int’l MarCom Awards
January 3, 2011 – Walker + Associates’ creative work was recently recognized with top honors winning two Platinum, one Gold, and one honorable mention from the International MarCom Creative Awards, an international competition administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
W+A received the top award of a Platinum MarCom statuette for its “Li’l Bro Smackdown ” web video created for the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and GEAR UP TN, a federal grant program which encourages students to go to college and helps student and their parents navigate how to plan, prepare, apply and pay for college. The web video features a little brother teasing his teenage sister and shows her smacking him into a pool using her brain power, proving it’s amazing what you can do when you “put your mind to it,” as the GEAR UP TN slogan suggests.
Walker + Associates also received a Platinum Award for an invitation design for a VIP reception for “Carry Me!,” an exhibit of vintage Lucite acrylic handbags sponsored by Memphis-based Lucite International and showcased at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. The invitation was crafted from eye-catching iridescent orange LuciteLux® acrylic, and was mailed in a translucent, lime-green envelope.
Walker received a Gold statuette for “Stick to College,” a public service announcement also developed for Tennessee Higher Education Commission and GEAR UP TN, which featured a stick-figure animation to highlight College Application Week.
In addition, an honorable mention was presented W+A’s own “WAHOO” agency e-newsletter.
